Modelling Intersectionality within Quantitative Research

چکیده
In the last decades, and especially since 2010, intersectionality paradigm is being increasingly used as theoretical framework for examining explaining social inequalities in various areas – both with qualitative quantitative methods. So far, there no standard applying research. Therefore, this paper aims to present how can be applied research elaborate on evaluate several methodological approaches regard. More precisely, we describe tenets of three different approaches: multivariate linear models, conventional multilevel analysis, analysis individual heterogeneity discriminatory accuracy (MIAHDA). We compare outline their benefits limitations.

Feminist and critical race theories offer the concept of intersectionality to describe analytic approaches that simultaneously consider the meaning and consequences of multiple categories of identity, difference, and disadvantage. To understand how these categories depend on one another for meaning and are jointly associated with outcomes, reconceptualization of the meaning and significance of ...

This article seeks to draw links between intersectionality and queer studies as epistemological strands by examining their common methodological tasks and by tracing some similar difficulties of translating theory into research methods. Intersectionality is the systematic study of the ways in which differences such as race, gender, sexuality, class, ethnicity and other sociopolitical and cultur...

Key Take-Home Messages Human experiences cannot be reduced to singular characteristics as these characteristics interact with others to produce health outcomes. Using social categories, such as class, race, gender, sexual orientation, in HIV and health research risks obfuscating the lived experiences of people with multiple social identities that intersect and affect their health and wellbe...
متن کاملAn integrated approach to quantitative modelling in angiogenesis research.
Angiogenesis, the process by which new vessels form from existing ones, plays an important role in many developmental processes and pathological conditions. We study angiogenesis in the context of a highly controllable experimental environment: the cornea micropocket assay. Using a multidisciplinary approach that combines experiments, image processing and analysis, and mathematical modelling, w...
